On Saturday, December 13, 2025, New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church opened its doors and hearts to host the “Better Together” Widow’s Retreat, a sacred time created especially for women who have experienced the loss of a spouse.
Held at New Jerusalem M.B. Church, the retreat provided a safe and nurturing space where widows could gather, reflect, and find comfort in community. From the moment attendees arrived, the atmosphere was filled with warmth, understanding, and genuine love, reminding every woman present that she was not alone.
A Space to Be Seen, Heard, and Held
The Widow’s Retreat was more than an event; it was an intentional moment of care. It acknowledged grief without rushing it, honored memories without sorrow overshadowing hope, and allowed space for healing to unfold naturally.
Through fellowship, heartfelt conversation, and shared moments of reflection, participants were able to connect with others who truly understood their journey. Laughter and tears existed side by side, each welcomed and respected as part of the healing process.
Better Together in Faith and Fellowship
The theme “Better Together” resonated deeply throughout the day, serving as a reminder that even in seasons of loss, God provides community, support, and strength through one another. The retreat reinforced the truth that healing does not have to happen in isolation, and that faith, love, and sisterhood can help carry the weight when days feel heavy.
A Ministry of Compassion
New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church remains committed to ministering to the whole person, spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. The Widow’s Retreat reflected the church’s heart for compassion, ensuring that widows feel remembered, supported, and deeply valued within the body of Christ.
We are grateful for every woman who attended, every hand that helped prepare the retreat, and every prayer lifted before and during this meaningful gathering.
As we move forward, the love shared during the Better Together Widow’s Retreat continues to echo, reminding us all that comfort, healing, and hope are found when we walk together.
